JOHN’S, Antigua, Friday August 28, 2015 – Flights in and out of Dominica have been cancelled for today and tomorrow, regional airline LIAT announced this morning.Following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika yesterday, the island’s main airport, the Douglas-Charles Airport, was significantly damaged.As a result, there will be no travel on LIAT to or from Dominica.Some flights have been re-routed and others cancelled.FLIGHT ROUTINGLI 364 Barbados to Guadeloupe to Antigua – Operating as LI 664LI 523 Antigua to Guadeloupe to Barbados – Operating as LI 623LI 524 Barbados to Antigua – Operating as LI 624Cancellations for Friday, August 28:FLIGHT ROUTINGLI 560 Barbados to Dominica to San JuanLI 561 San Juan to Dominica to BarbadosLI 526 Antigua to St. Kitts to Tortola to San JuanThe authorities in St. Croix have advised that the airport there will remain closed until 5 p.m. pm today due to the passage of Tropical Storm Erika.Passengers affected by those changes, who wish to rebook for a later date, will be allowed to do so without change fees or fare differences for a period of two weeks from the date of their original scheduled travel.LIAT also advised that passengers who decide to travel but are unable to complete their journey due to disruption caused by weather conditions, will not be provided with meals, transportation, or hotel accommodation.
